Dr. Richard Bellamy popularly known
as RB in KHRC parlance joined the centre in January 2003, as the ÔbaapaVitA
trial director. He worked assiduously in his area of duty, combining that
excellently with other responsibilities such as staff research training needs.
Of particular mention is his devout commitment
to the KHRC weekly scientific meeting sessions, where he imparted so much
knowledge in epidemiological research methods to young scientist of the institution.
His doors were always open to staff who
had problems developing research proposals through the expedited nature in
which he offered valuable comments and suggestions in developing such proposals.
Dr. Bellamy left the centre in June 2004, to take up other challenging appointments
in the UK, where he hails from. We take this opportunity to wish RB success
with his new appointment.
Dr. Karen Edmond
Dr. Karen Edmond also known as KE in
KHRC joined the institution as the ÔbaapaVitA trial epidemiologist in January
2003. She worked very hard offering valuable support to the epidemiological
base of the study.
She was also an ardent member of the
weekly scientific meetings, where she helped sharpen the research skills
of other researchers in the centre. She held the enviable portfolio of secretary
to the KHRC scientific review committee until her departure in September
2004.
At her send-off, she promised that
she was re-locating to UK to take up additional responsibilities and would
make intermittent visits to the centre. KE, we are hoping to see you soon!
