DR.PAUL ARTHUR'S COMMEMORATION:

A special event was observed during the year under review in KHRC to remember the late director of this centre who died under tragic circumstances. The new building that houses both the computer and clinical laboratories and other offices was dedicated to the memory of Dr. Paul Arthur as the initiator of the Kintampo Health Research Centre and for his immense contribution to national and international public health research.

The building was named after him in a very colourful event that was graced by distinguished participants: Dr. Sam Agyei (Deputy Director-General, GHS), the Regional Director of health services, Alhaj Dr. Mohammed Bin Ibrahim Dr. John Gyapong (Director, HRU), Dr ET Adjase, District Director of Health Services. Traditional Authorities, the wife and family members of the late Dr. Paul Arthur among others. Good-will messages were also received from Prof. Betty Kirkwood, who worked very closely with Dr. Arthur but was not present at the occasion. The media was present to cover proceedings.
