New Laboratory handed over to KHRC

new lab

A new clinical laboratory was handed over by the contractor to the Kintampo Health Research Centre (KHRC) on Tuesday, 27th November, 2007.

Work on the new clinical laboratory began in May 2007. With this new clinical laboratory in place, both research and diagnostic services will improve dramatically, as we now have separate and more spacious sections for Clinical Chemistry, Haematology, Parasitology, Bacteriology, Entomology, Molecular biology, Immunology, Virology, Micronutrients, Sterilization and Distillation. The laboratory also has a meeting room, wash rooms for staff and visitors, a phlebotomy area, a reception and offices for staff.

It became necessary to build the new lab because the current one had become too small to contain the increasing activities being carried out by the Centre.

The new laboratory has the potential of becoming a reference laboratory to support work in the middle belt of Ghana.
